What's On

A church that loves to serve their community

God designed the church to be a place where people find family and community. Here at Oaklands we cherish the feeling of belonging that comes with being part of what the Bible calls "the body of Christ", that is the physical expression of Jesus on Earth today. We come from all walks of life, with all sorts of experiences and backgrounds, but our belief in God and what Jesus has done for us is what drives us to run all our groups, and to meet new people. People like you!

When Jesus was on the Earth, he was really interested in people and the lives they led. The Gospels are full of instances where Jesus connected with people, often outsiders, and brought them into his family. After he had gone back to Heaven, the ones he had left in charge of the church carried on this work, and this is what we are still doing today. We'd love to welcome you to any of our groups or activities!

Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship is one of the cornerstones of life here at Oaklands Church. As well as having an emphasis on our partner churches on Sunday mornings, our Sunday evenings are focused on life here at Oaklands Church. We meet every Sunday evening at 5pm for a great time of corporate worship and fellowship, as well as teaching and ministry. Come and join us as we celebrate Jesus and his love for us.

Tuesday Club

All through the the Bible there are examples of God speaking to the older generation. Here at Oaklands Church we firmly believe that people of EVERY age have something to offer and that's why we have our Tuesday Club. Currently meeting on the second Tuesday of the month, our over-50s meeting is a place to build relationships both with each other and with God.

Evening Prayer

We know that prayer is central to the life of the church. As well as praying as individuals, corporate prayer is essential for the growth and health of the church. Our Wednesday evening meetings are relaxed affairs; we start with a short time of worship and then have a brief exhortation to focus our prayers. Sometimes we'll pray as one big group, sometimes as smaller groups, but we are always seeking God's will and plan for our lives and the life of the church.

Little Buds

Little Buds is the name for our toddler group (Mums & Tots, Mother & Toddler, Tots, etc). Every Friday we open the church building from 9:30-11:30am and provide a safe place that parents, grandparents or carers can bring their pre-school little ones for a time of playing, sharing, crafting, singing etc. Our aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere that provides time and space for everyone (young and old) to build friendships and find fellowship.

YoYo

YoYo is a kids club for primary aged kids (5-11) that meet on a Friday evening (during term time). From 5:30-7pm we spend time playing games, making crafts, singing songs, and learning about stories & characters from the Bible. We also have times of sharing, allowing the kids time to share what's going on with them. Our aim is not just for the kids to all have fun, but for them to grow in their knowledge of who Jesus is and how much He loves them.

Encounter

Encounter is the Youth Ministry here at Oaklands Church, for ages 11-18 years old. From 7pm we enjoy some social time, ice breakers, games and then finish with life lessons that includes looking at the teachings of Jesus, and how they can impact our lives. We love seeing our young people grow and turn into young adults, living lives that honour God. We also run several youth trips throughout the year, usually finishing with a trip away to a youth event in the summer.
