From one plant, to a field of oaks.
When our church started over thirty years ago, we had no idea what God wanted to do beyond the initial task that He'd given us. Little did we know that we would end up with new churches growing out of the work that was initially planted in the Swansea Valley. Each of these churches started as a small house group and grew into its own congregation. Each one has it's own unique character, and we are looking forward to seeing what God does next!
Cribarth Community Church
Cribarth Community Church grew out of a house group that used to meet in the village of Ynyswen. As God moved and the group grew, they started to look for a new venue to meet in. Having tried a few different locations, Ysgol y Cribarth opened up to them.
Cribarth Community Church meet every Sunday and they are blessed with a great teaching ministry, with many of the members regularly bringing different words and messages. On the last Sunday of every month, there is also a Kids Church for those of primary school age. They also hold regular activities such as Family Fun Days, Easter Egg Hunts, Guest Speakers, Community Barbecues and more.
The church meet in the village of Abercraf, just outside the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons at the northern end of the the Swansea Valley.
River of Life Church
River of Life Church (previously Lighthouse Church) is a group of local people of all ages who meet together to discover the extraordinary love that God has for us, our friends and our community.
We aim to serve the communities of the Clydach, Pontardawe and the surrounding villages, and will be continuing to share the message of hope and new life which we have found in Jesus Christ.
Headed up by Richard and Jo Steadman, Chris and Sian Pavett and Matthew and Natasha Rees (with support from Oaklands Church, Ystradgynlais). Whether it’s your first time at one of our Sunday meetings, or whether you've never been to church before, it helps to know that you’ll be in a friendly, relaxed, and welcoming setting!
